About
Tom Taylor is a writer, journalist, and editor currently based in Canada.
He is best known for his contributions to the combat sports industry. Tom has been a staff writer for Bleacher Report since 2019, contributing thousands of articles and interviewing many of the biggest stars in UFC history — most of them multiple times. That includes Jon Jones, Alex Pereira, Georges St-Pierre, Islam Makhachev, Anderson Silva, Israel Adesanya, Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, Dustin Poirier, Francis Ngannou, and UFC CEO Dana White.
Previously, Tom was a staff reporter for the South China Morning Post, where he specialized in Asian martial arts promotion ONE Championship. In that role, he interviewed nearly every fighter on the ONE roster and covered live events in multiple countries, including Singapore, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Tom also has extensive experience outside the combat sports space. He is the former Indigenous affairs reporter for Northern News Services, a news publication based in Northern Canada. In this role, he was stationed in the remote subarctic city of Iqaluit and covered life in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories — two of the least populated and most isolated regions of the country.
Outside of his full-time roles, Tom has contributed to reputable outlets including New York Magazine, Vice, The Japan Times, Men’s Journal, and Maxim. In these roles, he has interviewed stars such as Wiz Khalifa, Jake Paul, Stephen Dorff, KF Seetoh, and several NHL and NFL players.
One of Tom’s travel journalism articles was also the regional winner for the Americas in the 2017 Kazakhstan Through the Eyes of the Foreign Media contest, facilitated by the Embassy of Kazakhstan — one of his favourite countries to visit.
Tom is currently under contract to write the biography of Lethwei champion and combat sports legend Dave Leduc.
